Betsy Black, MSW Intern

PMAD SPECIALTY, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I graduated from Goshen College in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. In the last 23 years I spent my time raising my family and working within the local childbirth community. I served as a birth doula, midwife’s assistant, childbirth educator and administrator at a midwife practice and local birth center. Currently I am serving as a prenatal care coordinator at the Elkhart County Healthy Babies program.

Now that my children are older, I am finally reaching for my own dreams in attaining my master’s in social work. I chose to study at Andrews University in Berrien Springs Michigan for the richness of offering and their long-standing graduate program. I am immersed in evidence-based theory and research-based methods among a diverse student body. This learning matches with my strengths and experience of being present and supportive with women. As a student I am passionate and inspired to serve.

I love learning and listening. I am familiar with the challenges and rewards women experience during pregnancy and post-partum. I am excited to serve women in this stage of life as I push myself to take my skills to the next level. Under the supervision of Lori Tabor LCSW, I am seeking a few women to work with during my internship. I would be honored if you allowed me to walk alongside you.  .

Erin Lynch, M.S.Ed Intern

PMAD SPECIALTY, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, COUPLES THERAPY

Hello and thank you for reaching out! I look forward to getting to know you.

My passion for pursuing a degree in therapy is that I’ve seen firsthand the impact a good counselor can have on someone’s life. I believe it’s incredibly brave to seek support through therapy and I hope to be able to serve you to the best of my abilities.

For the past eight years, I have worked at a local nonprofit serving pregnant women and their partners, watching women transition into motherhood. I have seen the joys and the struggles, how both beauty and heartache can co-exist. I am passionate about helping women to really understand their new identity and to find new ways to care for themselves in a time of transition.

I am also interested in working with couples and recently completed my Level One Gottman Method in Couples Therapy.

I am currently in school at Indiana University at South Bend, getting my Masters in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three young daughters, who are always keeping me on my toes and teaching me something new. I absolutely love a good novel, a good board game, and discovering new restaurants around town.
